bear gully

the best thing about being a creative arts student - no exams! to conclude the most wonderful first year at uni, maddie, rebekah, nick and i ventured out on a road trip- it was the perfect finish since we all met back in semester one whilst studying film history. i drove down with nick in the coolest retro car, it was bright yellow and literally defined 'summer'. we both forgot our ipods which was actually a good thing because instead of sharing two hours worth of music our journey was filled with philosophical conversations about the universe, destiny, faith and religion.

the few days we chose to getaway were coincidentally the warmest days of the month, the hot sun paired with good company and cold beers was the perfect escape from reality. we headed down dusty, winding roads - i even saw my first echidna, before arriving at bear gully. i can't describe how relaxed i felt, i fell asleep on the grass under the sun during the day waking up exhausted. at night we sat around the fire under millions of twinkling lights as nick strummed away on his guitar. my mind was empty, beneath the soft chords and nick's calming voice i could hear the distant roar of the ocean and the gentle rustling of leaves. not being able to see anything but the stars i concentrated on what i could hear, the different sounds combined transported me to a place far from the hustle of my life back in melbourne.
our little trip was filled with adventure, laughter and good conversation. we drank, ate and slept to our heart's content. i just wanted to stay there. i can't wait to escape with my friends again, i had a beautiful time. and who knew relaxation could be exhausting!
